Patricia Murphy is Professor Emerita at Arizona State University where she taught for 31 years. Murphy earned her B.A. in English and French from Miami University and her MFA in Creative Writing, Poetry from Arizona State University. 

In Spring 2017 she won the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts Outstanding Teacher Award. In Spring 2016 she won the ASU Faculty Women’s Association Outstanding Faculty Mentor Award. In Spring 2009 she was recognized at the highest level of the university, receiving a Faculty Achievement Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Student Mentoring. She taught 206 classes at ASU and has offered many workshops on pedagogy and teaching strategies to ASU faculty. In 2010 she developed the course Travel Writing for ASU Online.
